Ciocc Road Bike
Ciocc is not a name that everyone will be familiar with, however it is not a new name by any stretch of the imagination. Ciocc, for the officianado, is a brand that recalls the early days of the great Italian tradition of handcrafted road frames, beginning 60 years ago working from a small artisan shop, producing high quality frames for the demanding conditions faced by professional riders.
Today, Ciocc realise the importance of the company's origins, esteemed reputation, traditions and attention to detail.
Ciocc produce dream-worthy frames that become instant classics, sought after and then coveted by enthusiasts who seek and deserve perfection and who pour scorn on the mundane.
Ciocc have been making bikes for over 60 years, but despite this history they are not a common sight on our roads as Ciocc only make 800-900 bikes a year, all by hand in their factory in Bergamo, North of Milan. Their contentment in retaining their heritage as artisan builders, happy with a small niche in the market rather than expanding and outsourcing manufacturing is to be commended in this day and age of "bigger is better".
At a time in the industry when sales figures and market penetration seem to be the goal of many, even among some of the more traditional companies, it is nice to see a brand like Ciocc staying true to their roots. So true in fact that as part of their lineup they still have a traditionally made steel frame complete with chrome lugs and forks which highlights the evolutionary path bicycle manufacture has taken when sat alongside their modern carbon fibre offerings.
