Product Information
Cygolite Expilion Bike Light - 170 Lumens.
This is a high powered light with an output of a genuine 170 lumens. when you look at its size it is quite amazing. It fits in the palm of your hand. The attached image will give you an idea of the light output.
This unit does not require a separate battery that you have to mount, carry, and avoid damaging the lead. It is all in one. In fact you can charge it through the usb port on your computer at work or at home. It really reduces the need for extended run times.
Any Cygo product is of the highest quality. Although there are many copies of this light available, few could claim the reliability and genuine output of the Expilion. We sell lots of Cygo lights, but rarely have a problem, and then it is sorted out immediately. The ratio of claims to saales is about 0.05%, yes, only half of one percent - pretty incredible. Tests have shown that the Expilion maintains a constant light output for the duration of the charge, where copies usually deteriorate rapidly.
The Expilion's beam is wider than some others, giving a better range of vision, more suited for dark areas, particularly bike tracks or off-road. Although said to be suitable for off-road use, I think there would be other more suitable lights, it does not have enough output to really see well at high speed off-road, but for commuting and general road use it is brilliant (pardon the pun). Come along and try one out.
Some of the features of this bike light are:
- A bike light taking advantage of latest LED improvements, rather than lagging behind a few years
- Wide enough beam pattern for commuting but with no dim spots
- Bright enough for the high speed road riding
- Small, lightweight single piece unit that doesn’t take up too much handlebar real estate
- Easily removed from the bike for security reasons or for ease of recharging
- Decent run time (3 hours) at maximum brightness
- Rechargeable battery with short recharging time (5 hours max)
- Standard cable for recharging (in this case, USB), so I can charge at home or work
- Sturdy aluminum rather than plastic mounting bracket
- Easy availability of spare parts/brackets
- Reasonably priced
- Lightweight (weighs only 130gms)
The picture below is of a test of the Expilion 250, the new Expilion 170 throws out a similar level of light and is definitely worth a look at our Ivanhoe store.
