Giant Seek 2 2012.
The Giant Seek 2 is definitely not your run-of-the-mill commuting bike. It is made for city commuting, but still has some mountain bike components to make it stronger and the level of terrain to explore is a higher range than most bikes of this type. Taking a second to look at the different hazards of city riding compared to that of a mountain biker, for example, we find a few different parts of the bike more important. In the city you have a lot of people/cars/building etc. all packed into smaller spaces, making braking and steering very important features... Giant did keep that in mind when they designed this bike. The bike has disc brakes for smooth, efficient braking, a lightweight frame making it easier to maneuvre and steer, reflective paint making you more visible, a metal guard on the top tube to prevent scratching, puncture-resistant tyres and Giant double wall rims for sturdiness.
Again the riding position is designed with urban commuting and recreational riding in mind. The seating position is efficient, yet sufficiently upright to have good vision at all times. It will not suit you if you have back or neck problem and need an upright position, but if you want to be able to really push hard climbing hills, yet be able to see what the traffic is doing around you, the riding position is ideal.
But to get right down to the nitty-gritty, the bike rides really well, it simply feels great. People who take this baby out on a test ride always come back with a smile on their face. Now, if that doesn't make you jump in your car to come and test ride one, then how about the fact that it's now just $799!
