2011 Giant Via S.
The S stands for Single (speed) and it's a bike designed for simplicity and just for cruising around, certainly not for performance. The Via is designed to have an upright riding position for leisurely rides, and has all the practical bike features like fenders, comfy saddle, front basket, chainguard and a low standover frame (for easy mounting). The frame is along the style of bikes from the '30's and is actually designed so that you can hang a "U" lock in the frame to use when you want and sits securely in the frame while you are riding. The frame is CroMoly steel with fine tubing appropriate to the style of the bike. The single speed version is ideal if you want to have a "no fuss" type of bike, that requires no maintenance, you just jump on and ride it.
These "old school" bikes are the latest thing around the city and surrounding areas. You will have seen the cool young things on Brunswick street and it's easy to imagine cruising down the footpath next to the beach, looking out over the water and basking in the sunshine, or maybe down to the Bakery on Sunday for a leisurely breakfast. Well, the Via is the perfect bike for all this.This bike looks great and has a high quality paint finish that will still look new in several yeras time. It has alloy double wall rims meaning the rims are stronger than average, and the dual pivot brake caliper gives stronger braking with less pressure.
