Giant Areva 20 Street.

This neat little mountain bike has a lightweight alloy frame and front suspension making it perfect choice for when your youngster is ready to ride along the trails with you. It's the equivalent of the old MTX 150 street girls - but cheaper and better! The 3 speed hub gearing, coaster brake and front alloy V-brake are easy to use while still giving the bike the versatility to tackle some inclines. A 3 speed gear sytem is simpler to use than a derailleur system, because the gears can be changed whether stationary or moving. It is simply a matter of moving the lever. The 20 inch wheels with alloy rims and low standover height make this model suitable for children 5-10 years old. There is plenty of adjustment in the seat pole and the headstem to allow for your child's growth. Of course the bicycle comes fully assembled so that you don't have to worry about a thing. There is 12 month's free service included and we encourage you to take advantage of this to keep your child's bike in perfect running order.

 A similar bike is the Mongoose Popstar at $329. It is lighter, a liitle bigger and has the same simple gear system.
