Giant Areva 20 inch.

The Giant Areva 20" bike is ideal for girls around 6 years old. It will last them a couple of years, but will set them up ready for a bigger bike.
The Areva is light, having an aluminium frame, and of course the gear and brake systems are designed with simplicity in mind. Both gears and brakes require very little pressure to operate, ideal for smaller hands.
It has 6 gears, more than adequate for most areas, and a very effective brake system. The saddle is soft and comfortable, and the sides are fairly tough, just in case it ever gets dropped.
The Areva has front suspension, and the bike is easily controllable for her.
Of course the most important thing is the appearance, and this is excellent, with the soft purple paint finish.
 
If your daughter is a liitle taller, but not ready for a 24" mountain bike, have a look at the GT Scamp at $279 or the GT Laguna at $299
