The Colnago CX 1 Dura Ace road bike was created for strong riders who have asked for an aggressive, ultra-modern monocoque frame-set from Colnago. It is the bike of choice for the professional riders of the Bouyges Telecom Pro Tour team during the 2010 season. The CX-1 is a high-performance carbon frameset with a dynamic ride that will allow riders to fly up any climb, thanks to its light weight, yet it’s rigid enough to win any sprint without wasting energy and has benefited from the input of riders like Alessandro Petacchi and Eric Zabel over the past few years.
The Colnago CX-1 has a special monocoque carbon fibre front triangle with an assembled rear triangle, joined with a special proprietary bonding process. Colnago's new CX-1 frame is the top of Colnago’s monocoque frame range and is positioned just below the top of the line EPS. Thanks to the unique polygonal profile of the Colnago CX1's top tube, this design provides a very strong, solid structure with two flat surfaces on bottom and top for extra stiffness and the polygonal profile also disperses extraneous road vibrations.The Colnago CX 1's rear chain and seat stay shape have been developed to optimize overall torsional and lateral rigidity without adding weight. Unlike many carbon fibre frames, Colnago uses an exclusive pre-preg Carbon Fibre Fabric that is specially selected by using electronic scanning technology that ensures the fabric will have the maximum resin dispersal and provide the lightest frame possible.
One of the key points of the Colnago Revolution development project is the introduction of an all-new headset system, the C-HS2 Colnago Headset System. This is a special, semi-integrated headset that allows easier assembly and maintenance without removing the entire headset assembly. The C-HS2 also provides extra stability to the head tube, thanks to a massive 11/4" lower headset bearing and a 11/8" upper bearing. Although the Colango CX 1 frame can be built up with any number of component choices, it would be hard to go past something equipped with the top shelf Shimano Dura Ace running gear. Crisp and sharp in its changing, with the long-established reputation of Shimano behind it, a Colnago CX-1 Dura Ace road bike is just an excellent combination.
