Schwinn is not a brand all that well known here in Australia, however their pedigree is long and distinguished in the USA where they began operation in the late 19th century.
For over a hundred years they have been building and selling bikes for racers, commuters and families, and recently become available here in Australia.
At Ivanhoe Cycles we have chosen to stock a few models from their road bike range to compliment our already great range from Giant. The Schwinn Le Tour Elite, is in many ways similar to the Giant Defy 1, sharing similar design and specification features.
Aimed squarely at the more serious recreational rider who isn’t going to actually race, but likes to go fast nonetheless. The rider who may only get out once or twice a week but one of those rides may be for 2 or 3 hours on a Sunday and who still wants to feel human when he gets home. The rider who isn’t embarrassed by the third chainring, but rather, relishes the prospect of the climbing it will allow him to do.
The Schwinn Le Tour Elite is this style of bike.
With the frame manufactured from lightweight double butted aluminium and fitted with carbon fibre forks and seat stays Schwinn have ensured a quality basis on which to build the bike, and with relaxed angles ensuring a
comfortable stable ride, the 3 hour Sunday rider will have no cause for complaint. Assembled with a combination of Shimano 105 and Tiagra components along with an FSA cartridge bottom bracket and a triple chainring
crankset, the rider can be confident of completing any ride he sets out on.
Schwinn may have taken their time getting here, but sales of bikes like the Le Tour Elite may see them decide to hang around downunder for a while to come.
