We get a few customers into the shop who are quite prepared to buy a bike, realise they have to have a helmet, and may even succumb to our suggestion that a pair of bike shorts is a good idea, but are reluctant to buy gloves. Many seem to think of gloves as just a fashion item, not a neccesity or functional garment. They protect their head with a helmet, their backside with shorts but are prepared to take the risk with their hands.

Imagine the difficulty washing, dressing, or just about anything else you do with your hands, if they were damaged during a fall while not wearing gloves. Unfortunately crashes do happen and our basic survival senses have us putting our hands down to break the fall which invariably means a loss of skin on the palms of our hands............ unless we are wearing gloves!

Gloves also offer a softer feel of the handlebar grip, cushion the road vibration and provide added grip and should be an item considered relevant to rider safety after the helmet.
