When Giant first introduced the Composite frames as part of the TCR range in 2011, they were so successful, both in their appreciation by the riders who bought them and in the numbers actually sold, that for the 2012 season Giant have introduced the Composite frame technology into the Defy range as well. This all-new Composite level frame shares many of the features of the Advanced and Advanced SL models further up the range, including hand lay up of the carbon fibre fabric. The ride comfort so synomonous with Defy bikes is further enhanced with the Composite technology, adding road smoothing comfort and racing performance to provide the perfect frame for many serious recreational and racing road cyclists. With rider comfort as a priority, the frame geometry allows for a more upright position than is available on the purely competition bikes. The regular long distance rider and the casual sunday rider will both benefit from this more relaxed position which results in less back and neck fatique, easier handling and a less harsh ride. Composite material further reduces rider fatigue thanks to its ability to absorb road vibration. The ride is just so smooth.

"Climb faster, sprint harder, go longer. The formula is simple, the better your bike feels, the further you can go." This statement is straight out of the Giant manual, but it is so true it is worth repeating. A lot of buyers may not consider these as reasons to buy a particular bike, they may be happy enough just to get a carbon bike at such a cheap price, but if at the same time you do climb faster, you do sprint harder, you can go longer and at the same time have a bike that looks really sharp and has reliable easy to use equipment, then perhaps the formula has been accurately defined.   

The Giant Defy Composite 3 is equipped with the new Shimano Tiagra ensemble, which is an efficient, lightweight component set ideally suited to this mid level of road bike. Twenty speed gearing makes riding easier, especially with the compact crankset which makes hill climbing a bit more fun than with regular gear ratios. Ready to ride with Shimano R540 clipless road pedals included, this is an exceptionally good value carbon road bike with an elegant finish that belies the purchase cost, looking like a far more expensive machine. 

With the frames inbuilt comfort and performance features, and fitted with a compact crank-set and 12 to 28 cassette the Defy Composite 3 will be an ideal bike for those longer recreational/charity rides and Gran Fondo's.
