Mountain Bikes: Giant Anthem, Giant Trance, Giant Reign,

Giant Halo & Giant Yukon Mountain Bikes.   Sale on now!

We carry a range of Giant dual suspension bicycles. There are four basic models the Anthem, Trance X, Reign X and the Glory, all of which utilise the Maestro system.  The benefits of the Maestro system are that there is no power loss under pedalling (previously a serious disadvantage),and the handling is vastly improved as the rear wheel is kept firmly on the ground under both braking and acceleration, providing maximum braking, acceleration and cornering.  The four models have varying amounts of suspension travel. Basically the short travel bikes are lighter and faster for cross country or recreational riding, whereas the long travel bikes are stronger, heavier and made to absorb high impacts (like jumps or high speed, rough terrain descents).

The suspension is Fox 32 F120 R forks and a 15QR thru axle for improved handling and fork life. The Fox Float R rear shock ensures excellent handling and power delivery under all conditions. Overall this is a versatile bike without having to sacrifice "fit for purpose". A great all-purpose mountain bike!

Giant Anthem X3 Dual Suspension Mountain Bike 2011.
The new Anthem X3 is one cheap bikefor the quality that you are looking at here. It has a super-lightalloy frame. The fox forks are Float R forks on the rear and 32 F100RL forks on the front, which is basically a really high quality suspension system, but Giant have offered it to us on a bike that is less than $3000! The Shimano Deore 27 speed gear system is made especially for mountain bike riding. Hydraulic disc brakes also providevery reliable braking that won't get slippery in wet conditions or anything like that. And just to top it off, the rims are double-wall and have 32 spokes per wheel.
So really you are looking at probably the most affordable cross country race bike on the market. And the 4 inches of Maestro travel in the rear suspension, the bike will ride beautifully in whatever terrain.
Price was $2399. Now just $1,799

Giant Trance X3 Dual Suspension Mountain Bike 2010.
With the same frame as the more expensive Trance X2 and X1, the Trance X3 is fast, light and a great entry level off-road bike.
Because the Trance is so versatile it can be used for a wide variety of applications. This is particularly helpful to a newcomer to off-road cycling, as you are unlikely to have a riding preference at the beginning, whereas later on preferences are likely to develop, and this bike is likely to suit most types of riding. Whether your preference is for exploring bush trails, cross country racing, or mild down hill, the Trance will handle it. The equipment level is strictly recreational, but the bike has excellent handling, is light, fast and simple to operate and handle. The Deore equipment has been designed for recreational handling, and is smooth, changes well and will last well. The Shimano hydraulic disc brakes are very effective with a 7" rotor at the front and 6" rear. It has double wall rims and disc brake hubs.
Overall this is a great bike if you are entering into off-road riding. The Fox suspension is good quality and will operate well under any conditions. A poor quality bike is usually heavy, with inefficient suspension, and often discourages an otherwise enthusiastic cyclist.
Price was $2499. Now just $1699!

Giant Anthem X2 Dual Suspension Mountain Bike 2011.
The Giant Anthem X2 has long been the most popular Anthem in the range. It seems to be about the price most of us are comfortable paying. At that point you can get a decent bike without having to pay over $3000. The frame is the same as the X1, but it is fitted with cheaper equipment. At this price point the bike still has most of the features that most people want. None of the equipment is poor. The bikes performance is outstanding for the price.
At under $3000 it is unusual to have a high quality frame, Fox suspension front and rear, Shimano Deore Xt /Slx, and high quality hydraulic discs. Even the wheels are good quality with double wall, eyeleted rims and Sapim spokes. The Anthem X2 is a bike that will perform well, even when the competition are riding much more expensive bikes. The frame is light, strong and will hold its own against some very expensive competitors. Come and have a ride, find out for yourself why they are so popular.
Price was $2,599. Now just $2,299!

Giant Trance X2 Dual Suspension Mountain Bike 2011.
If you read some of the many reviews available the overall view seems to that the Trance X2 is exceptional value for money. It can outperform bikes with a far greater price tag. Why is this? Well for a start the bike rides brilliantly. If you break it down, it may be easier to understand.
The frame is exceptionally light for the money paid. Sure there are lighter frames out there, but you could easily pay double the amount to save a few hundred grams. The Maestro system is very well designed. Read the reports, virtually everyone praises the suspension system. It has the ability to remove the terrain induced irregularities, without adding rider induced movement ("bob"). Effectively this means that if you apply power to the cranks, it can convert more of it to forward motion. A lesser system, that is not as well designed, allows the bike to "bob" up and down (losing power with each movement).
This lightweight frame, with the Maestro system is then fitted with Fox suspension front and rear. Fox 32 F125 RL with 15mm QR axle at the front and Fox Float RP2 with boost valve at the rear. This Fox suspension system has air compression with provision to alter the rebound rate front and rear. The air compression obviously is easily adjusted to suit the weight of the rider, thus achieving the optimum suspension rate without effort.
The equipment is far from race standard, but has been carefully selected to give a good reliable bike at around $3000. The Avid Elixir brakes work very effectively, with a nice progressive action. You will have the confidence of knowing that you can stop under any conditions. The Shimano SLX gear system changes well under pretty much any conditions, they have a wide gear range, with 30 speed, and a press fit bottom bracket. Overall this bike will handle all that most of us can dish out to it.
Price was $2,799. Now just $2,499!

It is fitted with the popular Raceface Deus cranks, bars, stem and seat pillar, with a Fi'zi:k saddle. A great all-purpose mountain bike!

Giant Anthem X1 29er Dual Suspension Mountain Bike 2011.
29" Mountain bikes are gaining popularity fast. The Giant Anthem X1 29er is a brilliantly priced 29" dual suspension mountain bike.
While 29ers may appear cumbersome and heavy, the reality is that these bikes, with their larger wheel diameter, can roll over obstacles that a 26" wheel bike would baulk at. The overall feel is that the bike is light and agile, some may even say that there is less need for a dual suspension bike when you have a 29er. Where a 26" wheel bike would be difficult to control over short, sharp undulations, potholes, washouts, etc, the 29" bike can roll straight over the top of much of it. Much easier on the rider (particularly good for us older riders).
The Anthem is a brilliant bike. It has a fluid formed frame that eliminates the need for added gussets. This means a frame that is lighter for a given level of strength. Fluid forming has proven to be very effective. Over the past few years we have had very few problems over vast numbers of frames sold using this technology. Giant are so confident that they are willing to offer a lifetime guarantee, even on their off-road frames. Let’s be honest, if you can buy a bike that is really light, well equipped for the money with one of the best, if not the best suspension system around, and you get a lifetime guarantee with that bike, it must be worth serious consideration at least. Why not come and try one, and see for yourself?
The bike is equipped with Shimano Deore Xt , a 30 speed gear system that works reliably. Not only can this bike handle high speed cross country trails, but it will climb pretty much any slope on which it can gain traction. The gearing is phenomenal. And, as regards traction, the Maestro dual suspension system assists traction to such a degree that it is possible to climb better on a Maestro system dual suspension bike than on a hard-tail.
The wheels are specially built or Giant, double walled, eyeleted, with Swiss DT spokes and rear hub. They should be good reliable wheels, they certainly have the brand names and an emphasis on being rugged. The SRAM Elixir brakes are renowned for good reliable braking. The assembly is light and not only works well, but looks great.
Quite a bike, why not come and try one?

Incredibly light, the Trance X1 comes fitted with Fox suspension front and rear, Shimano Deore Xt equipment and lightweight bars and stem. The list of components reads like a list you would expect on a $5000 bike. And the handling is excellent. The Trance is intended for riding over a wide variety of surfaces, generally not too radical, so the 5" suspension travel is adequate for most of the obstacles you will come across. The climbing ability is excellent the Maestro system allows the bike to climb like a hardtail, maybe even better with the improved traction on the dual suspension bike. Ceratinly there is no indication of pedal induced "bob" while climbing. Both front and rear suspension have a lock out system to improve climbing and road performance if required.

Giant Anthem X Advanced SL 1 Dual Suspension Mountain Bike 2011.
The Giant Anthem X Advanced SL1is the ultimate in a fast, cross country dual suspension bike. Previously the Anthem X Limited took pride of place, but this new bike using the advantage of carbon technology surpasses even the Limited. It is the fastest cross country Giant have ever built. Carbon technology enables Giant to alter the characteristics of a frame by altering the type of fabric, the direction it is "layed" and the amount of material used. This means the frame can be refined down to bring about the ultimate in acceleration, strength and weight, according to the anticipated use. It is a ready to race "out of the box" bike, suitable for pro levels. This bike is really fast, if you are looking for an edge, this is it. It provides better traction than a hard tail, yet has a similar weight.
As with all bikes utilizing the Maestro system, pedal bob is virtually eliminated, while still being highly responsive. This system enables a rear suspension bike to climb better than a hard tail due to better traction. The bike simply feels great with the combination of light weight and excellent traction, the climbing ability is amazing. The equipment is full Shimano XT with an XT wheelset.
If you combine the Fox 32 FIT RL 100mm suspension forks and Fox Float RP23 rear suspension with the lightest full suspension frame ever made by Giant. you can imagine it is going to be one of the best bikes available. The bike is not only fast, but very controllable, ideal for single tracks. The frame geometry, combined with the Fox suspension and wide bars inspire confidence through corners, it allows the average rider to attack corners at a greater pace than you could normally manage with confidence.
This bike really makes riding fun! Come and test ride one today.

Giant Trance X Adv SL 0 Dual Suspension Mountain Bike 2011.
The Giant Trance X Advanced SL 0 weighs in at around 200-250 gms less than an aluminium frame. That's half a pound, but that is far from the major benefit of a carbon fibre frame. Carbon fibre frames can be constructed to give a variety of attributes, according to requirements. The frame can be designed to emphasise climbing ability, or acceleration, or comfort, etc. Then it can be made stronger is certain areas, like the bottom bracket, without adding unnecessary weight in areas that have adequate strength, such as the top tube.
Giant is a global leader in bicycle technical innovation. Giant has been producing carbon fibre bicycles for longer than most companies have been producing bicycles of any type. All Giant carbon fibre frames are hand-made. The Advanced SL series uses the highest performance T-800 carbon raw material, a Fusion construction technique, together the the lightest and highest quality 1k weave for the outer layer. This combination of materials, hand crafted using the Fusion process produces the lightest, stiffest, most ride compliant frames ever.
This stiff, ultra light frame is then combined with a number of major features to give the most advanced frame available. It has PowerCore ( a massively oversized bottom bracket area to give unprecedented stiffness). Overdrive (oversize headtube and fork steerer tube to give really precise steering). Mega-Drive which is a combination of oversize (rectangular) downtube and top tube to give the fastest accelerating, best handling bike Giant has ever produced.
Now when take a frame of this calibre, and combine it with Fox 32 Talas (FIT RLC with 15QR and tapered steerer, 120-140mm travel) on the front, then Fox Float RP23 w/XV sleeve and boost valve on the rear, Shimano Xtr Shadow equipment, wheels by Swiss DT (Swiss Tricon XM1550 UST Tubeless) and then fit high quality bars, stem, pillar, saddle and tyres. the bike is really unbeatable. Come and have a look.
