Kids Bikes
Kids bikes.
From as young as 2 or 3 years of age, children can begin to experience the thrill of riding a bike. Sure, it may be with a helping hand from mum or dad, but the excitement of being mobile is a special moment for all families.
Kids bikes are sized according to the wheel size, which is still measured in imperial terms, so the smallest bike has 12" wheels suitable generally for children up to 4 years of age. These have training wheels to help with stability and to help take away the fear of falling over.
The next size is 16", which usually are suitable for children aged between 3 and 6 years. These too have training wheels, which are often discarded after a short time.
From about the age of 5 a 20" bike is suitable. This can be a BMX style, but there are also Mountain bikes and coaster brake bikes available in this size. These often will suit a taller / competent 5 year old up til around 8 years of age.
For the bigger kids, there are small Mountain bikes with 24" wheels, These have suspension and gears just like an adult bike and are really great if your family like to go out for a ride together. Age range is usually 7 to 10 years.
Tall 9 and 10 year olds are often able to ride an extra small adults bike. The adult range all have 26" wheels and are sized according to the frame height. An extra small has a 14" frame.
We have a great range for boys and girls and also have the great range of AFL team bikes.
