Giant Anthem
Giant Anthem.
The Giant Anthem is designed as a cross country mountain bike (or XC bike). The Anthem now has around 4" travel in the suspension, ideal for xc bikes, but falls far short of the requirements for downhill bikes, where the hits are much harder. The Giant Anthem comes in 3 models, Anthem X1 at around $4000, The Anthem X2 at $3,000 and the Anthem X3 at $2,000. All have the same frame, even the X3 is quite well equipped, but the X2, and X1 get lighter and work well under greater load conditions.
Dual suspension mountain bikes, are great for off-road adventuring. A cross country mountain bike such as Giant Anthem is lighter and faster, suitable for climbing and exploring longer distances. The Trance series Giant bikes are made to be pretty much all-purpose. The Giant Trance is fast and still light, but with longer travel suspension and more rider clearance for more adventurous cycling. The Reign series mountain bikes are for general purpose together with downhill work, whereas the Glory series are dedicated to downhill training and racing.
Simply put, the Anthem and Trance are great to ride up down a steep descent, but then you can turn around and ride back up. The Reign gets heavier and harder, the Reign X even harder, and the Glory, well just forget it, grab the chair lift. Of course the reverse applies to the down hill. The Glory is supreme, then the Reign X, followed by the Reign. The Trance and the Anthem are fun, but not competitive for downhill, but cross country is another story.
