Pinarello road bikes are renowned in road racing circles, having been victorious in the famous Tour de France many times, with the great Spanish champion Miguel Indurain winning 5 times while aboard a Pinarello. Of course Indurain was to ride a Pinarello to all his great victories, including the five Tour de France's were two Giro d'Italia's, an Olympic victory, a world time trial championship, an hour record, and many other international races.
In the modern era, the victories that actually got the ball rolling for Pinarello were the Olympic Gold medal of Alexi Grewal in 1984 and the Tour de France win in 1988 with Pedro Delgado of the Reynolds team. Following these successes Pinarello victories have continued at a steady rate thanks to partnerships with many of the top professional teams over the years such as Del Tongo, Reynolds, Banesto, Telecom, Mercatone Uno, Movistar, Caisse d' Epargne and champion riders such as Jan Ullrich, Bjarne Riis, Eric Zabel, Alessandro Petacchi, Oscar Pereiro and especially so today with the Sky Professional road team and the Great Britain national team.
Pinarello bikes are a part of the rich tradition in Italy of building beautifully functional bikes.
